Color:  Medium Pink with a satiny texture.  They have prominent bosses of soft, creamy yellow stamens.

 Description and Care:  This rose has prickles on the buds, and grey-brown, peeling bark.  The leaves are comprised of up to 15 leaflets that look almost fern-like and are slightly hairy.  It grows in a naturally arching form, but can be somewhat angular and stiff in habit.  It is naturally healthy and some specimens date to before the Civil War.

 Comments:  The prickly buds and fruits gave it the Chestnut Rose name.  The fruits look like small chestnuts in their husks, and turn from green to brown as they age.
